So What Is Wheel Tough Furniture?

Wheel Tough is a line of home furnishing made from; believe it or not, real racing rims! The rims vary in size from 13” up to 18” and are welded together to make the furniture.

The rims are available in two different finishes. The powder coated finish is mat grey, and my personal favorite is the polished aluminum finish. These stand out and look great in any home bar, den or office.

So What Type Of Furniture Is Available?

As you can see from these pictures, there is a wide selection from swivel chairs to bar stools. Coffee tables to bar tables. Polishing stools on casters so you do not have to kneel when cleaning your car rims, and my personal favorite the propane BBQ. Perfect for the weekend tailgate at the track.

How Long Has Wheel Tough Been in Business?

Wheel Tough has been in business since 1988 and the furniture is made in Indiana U.S.A.

How Did They Get This Idea to Make Stuff Out of Rims?

Wheel Tough’s first product was a cook pot. The founder took an old but clean rim, welded a bottom to it and started cooking corn on the cob over an open fire while tailgating at Football and NASCAR events. I can imagine such a sight would draw a crowd. I guess from that point, selling the cook pots snowballed into developing the furniture that you can see here now.

So Where Did You Find This Furniture?

I saw the furniture on sale during my annual NASCAR trek to Michigan Speedway for the Fathers Day Special. There they were, polished rims glimmering in the sun calling out to me. As I sat on a rim barstool, and said to myself “now this is something awesome and unique, which I will carry in my store!” As a result of that moment of enlightenment Auto-Mobilia is an official Toronto dealer for Wheel Tough.

You Like NASCAR?

I openly admit I am a NASCAR fan in Toronto. I am not a redneck nor do I have 20 rusted out Fords or Chevs on my front lawn. I am just a through and through auto racing fan and trust me many more are coming out of the NASCAR closet everyday. It’s great, unpredictable racing. But that will be another story to tell another day.

What Has Been People’s Reaction To It In Your Store?

I have yet to have one person come in the store and not notice the furniture. Their usual comments are…”Wow now that is cool!” or “Are those real rim? That looks so amazing!” And they are amazing and the chairs are extremely comfortable. That is a big surprise for many. Many of my customers out there just could not resist getting something for their den, rec room or home office.
