My SECOND favorite
hobby is collecting them!!! So when I found out
that NASCAR has SHOES – how could I not get a
pair!!
We talked to Jim
Switzer from Racinguniversity.com about this
racy footwear his site is selling.
Nika:
First of all Jim – can you tell us a bit about
racinguniversity.com?
Jim: I
started Racing University in 1999. The idea was
born during a trip to Martinsville (for the
Winston Cup race). I wanted to do a shirt that
said "Everything I really needed to know I
learned from Racing." My business partner -- who
was with me at the race -- took it a step
further by suggesting a Racing School of sorts
and it just grew from there. I've always loved
look of collegiate apparel and wanted to offer
an alternative to race fans who like that style
of garment but still want to express their love
of motorsport. Since that time, we've grown the
site to include novelty diplomas, a racing
sounds CD and licensed products such as the
canvas shoes.
Nika:
These shoes are so cool - what do you love about
them?
Jim: They
are cool! I really love the overall concept. The
entire shoe is dyed, right down to the bottom
and the front of the shoe is detailed to look
like the front of a racecar. I also like that
they are targeted to female race fans who want
something fun and a little whimsical to spice up
an outfit. The people at Carolina Motorsports
and JER Sports took over 2 years to get the
silkscreening process perfected (to cover the
entire shoe) and the result is a high quality,
unique and very fun product. I'd get some for my
daughter but she's only 19 months old!
Nika:
Which ones' are available?
Jim: We
have Chevy, Dodge, Ford, NHRA, Nesquik #10
(Busch series), #5 Kellogs (Winston Cup), and
#36 M&M's (Winston Cup). Sizes are ladies whole
sizes 3-11 and boys 1-6.
Nika: When
will they be available and how much will they
cost?
Jim: They
are ready to ship now and will retail for $39.99
for all sizes
