Land Speed Racer
E.C.T.A. = East Coast Timing Association
My husband and
I started landspeed racing 3 years ago, in our
1927 T Modified Roadster. I have set multiple
records over the years, the fastest being
178.925 mph which makes our Roadster the
fastest in the E.C.T.A. That is also the top
speed of the car, which is a cool title for me
to hold.
The Monster
Mile as we call the old WWII Air Force Base
runway that we run on is located in Maxton,
North Carolina and is open to all drivers,
spectators and riders. The September 2000
issue of Hot Rod Magazine did an article on
the E.C.T.A and our car, along with many
others got a cameo shot. Then in the September
2001 issue of Rod & Custom Magazine we got a
three page write up on our car. Also in
October 2001 Hot Rod Magazine did a small
write up about me being the fastest female to
run in the E.C.T.A. Needless to say I was
riding high.
Since then my
fastest female record has been beaten but I’m
working on getting that back. We were the 2001
points champions and are working toward being
the first team to win two championships.
Racing is the most exciting thing I have ever
done and hope to be doing for a long time.
Anyone that is
interested in driving or visiting the E.C.T.A,
can call Joe Timney at 302-378-3013. Racing is
addictive and I have gotten my best friend and
sister involved in the club.
