Debbie "Weather Girl" Whitworth (S. Cat.
Racing 2002 Driver)
Debbie
"Weather Girl" Whitworth is 37 years old, mother of 2 beautiful teenage
daughters, Rebekah, 15 and Tiffany, 13. She works as a teacher’s aide in
Special Education while a full-time student at Modesto Junior College
with a major in Liberal Studies.
Her interest in racing began at a young
age with her father, mother and younger brother attending boat races in
Chowchilla and Turlock. From there, her younger brother raced BMX for a
few years. As soon as she was able to drive, she attended Stockton 99
races regularly.
She spent a lot of time with her dad in
his garage. He was always working on someone’s vehicle. At 16, she
bought a 1965 Chevy Fleet side Pickup without a motor or transmission
and spent hours with her dad restoring that.
As far as racing, the closest she has got
on the track was the Demolition Derby she drove in 1987. Her cousin,
Todd Lewis, was on her pit crew during that Derby.
Racing, once in the blood, never goes
away. She has accommodated that desire by making every road she drives
on her racetrack.
The Legends have caught her eye. The body
style is one that her father would have loved, for he loved old cars.
Though he isn’t here now, his spirit will drive with her as she begins
her true racing career at Altamont Raceway in the Mini Super Truck
division. Her passion for cars and races comes through when talking
about watching her cousins, Todd and Tim Lewis, and very good friend,
Rudy Marquez race. Her passion is only the beginning.
