First year pilot of the Walsh Motorsports Federal Mogul Dragster, Erica states, "I grew up at the race track when my dad raced funny cars and dragsters all over the country. I tell everyone I saw America from a crew cab dually. How lucky I was as a kid to have such an experience."

"My mom and dad have been members of NHRA for 35 years, so when dad decided to retire from driving, it was a natural transition for the family for me to take his seat."

Erica & the team have done quite a bit of testing and match races in preparation for a full season in 2002. The team has entered one Division race and two National events so far in 2001. The Division 4 race was a success. Erica qualified the Walsh Motorsports dragster at her first race!!! Then the team traveled to Houston to compete in her first National event. Unfortunately an unusual pit accident sidelined the team from qualifying for the weekend. Erica sprang her ankle climbing out of the car after a warm up.

After recovering, the team decided on the adventure of traveling to Pomona, California to compete in NHRA's 50th anniversary celebration. Erica's Dragster Once again Erica managed to qualify the team amongst the best of the best in the Federal Mogul class. In the first round, she was quicker off the line than the defending world champ Rick Santos, but she quickly smoked the tires and overpowered the track. It was a very proud accomplishment for Erica as it would be for any other driver and just being able to compete in such an event was a dream come true for her and the team.

"My first year in the new car has been a very enlightening experience for me. The difference in Super Comp and this car is phenomenal, the acceleration and speed is just fascinating to me. Moving from a dead stop to 60 feet in less than a second is quite a thrill. I have more things to do in the cockpit and less time to do them. It is not as easy as it looks and believe it or not, it takes patience in the learning curve. 250 mph is the best adrenaline rush I've ever had. I hope we can do this for a very long time."
