My name is Vanessa Van Dette, I am a mother of two daughters Paige and Shelby. My obsession began as a young girl watching my dad cruise around in the awesome customs & cars that were always parked in our driveway. Then as I got into my late teens and finally got myself a mustang I somehow fell into the street racing scene, which is where I met my husband, It started as a street race against each other, he in his ’86 Thunderbird Turbocoupe and me in my ’65 Mustang, of course he beat me, but that was only the beginning, we ended up together and one by one I was beating everyone. Now that we have learned to become more responsible, we keep our racing strictly on the race track.

My current vehicle is a 2001 Cobra Convertible #1247 4.6 DOHC, my current modifications include: 42lb injectors, CompuCar Nitrous Oxide kit, Pro 5.0 shifter 4:10 gears, Eibach lowering spring, GKN half shafts, sub-frame connectors, Magnaflow mufflers, IRS pinion support brace, House of Kolor custom ice pearl paint by Gunslinger, Cervini stalker hood, side skirts and vents and rear bumper, Cobra R front bumper, Cobra R wing, stainless bumper letters and stainless build numbers, lightbar 2pce. Speedster cover, painted mirrors, painted rotors and calipers, shortened antenna, clear tail lights with sequential wiring harness, billet locking fuel door, custom interior seats, dash and door panels, MGW accessories, aftermarket gauges, monster tach with interface module Viper alarm with voice module, Boomerang II GPS locator, Alpine 7” plasma screen, 2-5” plasma screens in headrest, XBOX video game system & DVD, Alpine 6-disc CD Changer 2-12” MMats pro-audio subwoofers, 500RMS D-Class MMats amplifier.

Future modifications include: Procharger 10psi with intercooler, 90mm mass air, Diablo sport chip, single blade throttle body, 18” chromies with drag radials.

By the above modifications, I’m sure you’ve realized that this is a show car, but it’s not just all show. I am hoping to break 11seconds at the drag strip this year. And yes this car is my DAILY DRIVER!

My husband and I have now introduced our daughters to the scene who just love it, they are now asking to get into jr. dragsters…. Just gotta start saving for those cars now! In the mean time they do the circuit with us in their junior Porsche 911 2-1/2hp 2speed manual, which now has a custom kameleon paint job, dual exhaust, custom interior, polished engine (by dad).

We are hoping to make a real impact in the 2002 season!
