Kristi Schmitt was born on
October 2, 1980 in Redding, California. Kristi
is 21 years old and currently lives in Redding,
California.
Kristi began her racing career
at the age of 10 in the Red Bluff Outlaws in red
Bluff, California. She continued her go-kart
racing until the age of 16. At that time she
decided to move into a more competitive and a
faster type of racing. At this time she decided
to race in the latemodel division at Shasta
Speedway in Anderson, CA. Her decision to race
in the latemodel division was impressive to
many. In her first year of competition in the
latemodels she finished 5th in the points and
was Rookie of the Year. Her second year she
finished 3rd in points.
In 1999 Kristi moved to
Denver, Colorado, for two years, to achieve her
Associates Degree in Computer Networking. Never
giving up on racing Kristi flew to Bakersfield,
California 7 to 8 times per year to compete in
the latemodel division.
After achieving her Associates
Degree, Kristi moved back to her hometown where
she is currently employed as a travel
consultant.
In 2001 Kristi decided she
wanted to go farther in her racing career. The
next step was the NASCAR Touring Series. She
competed in 3 Northwest Tour Races and 1
Southwest Tour Race.
In order to realize her racing
goals Kristi spends many nights and days working
on her race cars at her fathers shop. This gives
her the hands on experience she needs to help
further her goals.
From winning many events and
receiving the most aggressive female driver in
go-karts, to being named Rookie of the Year in
latemodels makes her drive even stronger.
Kristi’s dedication and the
goals that she has set for herself makes her
drive even greater.
Kristi’s #1 goal for 2002 is
to be named Rookie of the Year in the Raybestos
Brakes Northwest Touring Series.
Kristi has her sight set and
is getting ready for the 2002 challenge. Keep an
eye on Kristi and see how the season progresses.
