Karina Morales
My
name is Karina Morales and I'm 25 years old. I live in Ecuador (South
America) and I've been racing cars since I am 8 years old.
My dad was a famous race driver while he
was younger so I must say he is my model and constant support. I began
racing go-karts and then i continued racing in Monomark Cups such as the
Mazda 323 Cup 1998-2000 and the Chevrolet Forsa Cup 2000-2001. But the
most important and my favorite category i am in is the Circuits National
Championship in which I race with my sport prototype the JKM-4 that was
designed and built by my father. This is an open wheel car powered by a
Toyota engine, 2000 cc, 16v twin cam. It is really fast due to its super
light weight.
I love speed and I love racing cars.
Being the only girl race driver in this country is really exciting, I
don't let the guys to get me down I always over take them all...!!! Some
of them use to envy me for my skills and they get more surprised when at
the end of a race I take off my helmet and they realize that I am a
woman. You should see their faces!!. I am so proud of my own, my
abilities and my passion that I will never stop racing. I know it's
difficult to keep going on since without any money there is not any
race... But as far as I can I always try hard to get the final line and
the checkered flag, proof of that there are many trophies in our racing
living room at home.
I do believe that winning is important,
getting the first place is the best but it is also good when you get a
new experience to improve yourself and being even better. Racing is a
real hobby to test yourself and to be able to recognize your real
abilities. The main goal is trying to reach the major leagues, IRL,
Nascar, Formula 1.
In my free times I mean when I am not
working for a flower exporting company I use to attend the Grand Prix in
different countries. I love to watch the IRL races and also the Formula
1. I've met some famous drivers but they have all been men only. I
think it's time for a woman to get success in any racing cars category
so we can demonstrate that we the women also can do it.
