Lindsay Kernohan

Update - Oct 2004

With both the WKA Manufactures Cup West and IKF Region 7 season now complete, Lindsay was able to capture two regional championships. Lindsay was crowned the IKF Region 7 HPV3 Champion after the last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway the first weekend of October and captured the WKA Manufactures Cup West Championship in HPV4.

Along with this, Lindsay has been selected to attend the Lyn St. James Driver Development program in December at Phoenix International Raceway. (PIR)

None of this would have been possible without the help and support of our sponsors. Marc Zartarian's Kart Racing Technologies chassis' and High-Rev power, VP Racing Fuels, Courtney Concepts, GoRacing Magazine, DEKE Clothing, SS Mechanical and Matt Johnson. Thank you to All....

                                                                      ***********

I have been involved in Racing Karts for a little over five years now. I concentrate on Sprint Racing (short road courses 1.5 miles or less on asphalt) in the 100cc classes. I started out racing at the club level and currently compete with the International Karting Federation (IKF) and the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufactures Cup West series and will be competing at both of their Grand national Events (Dousmann, WI. and Buttonwillow, CA.)

I specialize in the HPV 3 and HPV 4 classes in both organizations. (Horstman Piston Valve) These are 100cc motors with a pipe and centrifugal clutch that engages at around 5,000 RPMLindsay Kernohan's and are very close to a direct drive class. With the clutch stall this low you have to be very smooth on corner entry as well as corner exit.

I drive a Kart Racing Technologies chassis (KRT) with High-Rev power supplied by Marc Zartarian at KRT/High-Rev in Carlsbad, Ca.. My Team consists of my chassis tuner Ralph Kernohan (dad), Manager Mindy Kernohan (Mom),.Support Crew Lauren Kernohan (Sister) and driving coach and mentor Matt Johnson.

At the club level I earned the Tri-C Karter Club Championship in HPV Junior 2 in 2002, season high points winner for 2002 and have set numerous track records. Along with this I received the 2001 IKF Region 7 Most Improved Driver of the Year award.

This year has been my first year racing adult classes (16yrs and older) and I really enjoy racing against some of the best drivers in the country. I currently am the points leader in the WKA Manufacture's Cup West series in HPV3 and second in HPV4. In this series, after three events (2 races per event) I have collected one pole position, one first place and five top five finishes. In the IKF Region 7 series, which is through it's fourth race (2 races per event), I have two first place finishes and six top five finishes. I am looking forward to continuing this early success and hopefully walk away this year with a National and/or Regional Championship in these series.

I have to thank my sponsors for much of this success which I would not have been able to accomplish without them. They are "Kart Racing Technologies/High-Rev Engineering", "Courtney Concepts", "VP Racing Fuel", "DEKE Active Apparel", "Go Racing Magazine" and "SS Mechanical Engineering".

My long term goal is to drive professionally, preferably in an open wheel series. You can see more information on my website, www.KernohanRacing.com, within a few days.
