Determined and persistent, those are the two words that best describe the attitude of Ms. Charlie Johnson, best.

A trained automotive technician, web mistress, and accomplished 4x4 mud racer, this woman has "Been There and Done That", in more ways than you can count. Having returned to the sport she loved the most, Drag Racing, she began in 1993 to try her hand at running the NHRA, Div 3, Super Quick 32 Series. Racing all 1/8th mile at each track, the series goes through; Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.

"The races were few and far in between when I started. We had a very low budget to race on, so we made the most of it. Driving through motors, transmissions, and anything else that could break during the beginning. I started to wonder if we would ever see a complete season of racing."

Charlie & Ken traded off on driving the dragster at the very start, then Charlie took over the piloting duties, while her Crew Chief made the upgrade to injected alcohol. She has been the points earner for the last 4 years. 1998 saw her make her first full season of competition, ending the year 17th in Super Quick 32 points. 1999 had the distinction of being the year of the crash. She walked away with 4 bruises and a completely destroyed dragster. The season ended with her 31st in Super Quick 32 points.

Charlie consistently qualifies in the top half of the Quick fields, giving her an excellent shot at the Quick 8 Shoot Out, to be contested at the Season Finals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in October, 2000. Maintaining a hard stance for keeping her position in the Quick 8 Shootout, she was the #8 qualifier for the 2000 season. Unfortunately the dragster had other ideas when it came to getting down the track and she went out 1st rd. She did manage to end the 2000 season 14th in Super Quick 32 points.
