Joan
Hoskinson
Joan Hoskinson, 2003
Ontario P4 and Novice Champion, and only
female Canadian rally driver is affectionately
known to her fans as “Rally Girl”. Her
Champion titles are just a few of many
world–class wins by Joan Hoskinson since the
launch of her rally driving career only three
years ago.
Joan Hoskinson is
breaking all the stereotypes associated with
women of her age and is clearly steering her
personal ambitions in her own direction. As
the only Canadian female Rally car driver this
season in an otherwise male dominated sport,
Joan Hoskinson is an inspiration to women of
all ages.
This baby boomer
continues to stun her audiences and
competitors alike with her unique mix of
aggressive driving skill and feminine flair.
Since bringing the Monte Carlo Historic Rally,
Coupe Des Dames trophy back to North America
in 2001 for the first time since 1911, Joan
Hoskinson’s rally career has shifted into
overdrive and she is now competing in the high
speed category of Performance Rallying, where
she finished 5th in Ontario overall for 2003.
Joan was recently
presented with two trophies at the at the
prestigious Ontario Performance Rally
Championship awards ceremony in Toronto. This
was a historic moment for the sport of rally
racing in Ontario, as Joan is to become the
first woman ever to receive both the Top
Driver Production-4 Class and the Top Novice
Driver titles.
Joan has joined with
Lachute Subaru Performance Division for her
2004 Rally Season, which promises to be full
of new challenges and a transition year.
Hoskinson, owner of a 1996 Subaru Impreza RS
2.5 is returning this year for a comprehensive
racing season and is kicking off the season
with big ‘blonde’ ambitions. Hoskinson will be
testing her Impreza at the Rallye Sanair. The
car had an impressive 2003 season, first
winning the SCCA Northeast Division Production
GT Championship where it was driven by New
Yorker, Eugene Michniuk. Hoskinson then
brought it to Canada in November for the Rally
of the Tall Pines, where she clinched two
championship titles in the CARS Ontario
Division.
Undoubtedly, 2004
promises to be an incredibly momentous year
for Joan Hoskinson and her 1996 Subaru Impreza
R.S 2.5 as they chase their dreams and race
towards professional rally driving status for
2005.
