Overview:
Angel, currently 30 + years old, began racing
competitively at age 10 in Jacksonville,
Florida. She started in go-karts and finished
at the top of her class winning her first race
and first season championship at age 10. She
raced go-karts on a local, regional, and
national level until age 13. Angel was a
consistent winner racing go-karts and was
ready for her next challenge. At age 14, Angel
began racing regularly in a local late model
dirt series. She ho ned
her racing skills and at age 15 Angel competed
in a local asphalt late model series. She
dominated the field at local and regional
tracks. Angel then began racing jet boats at
age 16, where she excelled, breaking several
records.
Following an almost fatal
automobile crash in 1990 caused by being hit
head on by a drunk driver, Angel was paralyzed
from her waist down for 8 months. While
recovering from the accident, Angel didn't
waste any time grieving over the possibility
of not being able to race again, instead she
took on the task of furthering her education
again in the computer technology field. After
a successful surgery and lengthy recovery
process, Angel made a full recovery. Although
she was not able to continue to race jet
boats, this was not going to stop her from her
first love, which was auto racing. Angel has
always been an active spokesperson for several
anti-drug organizations, but following the
near fatal crash which almost took her life
and her children's, she has been a very strong
advocate of anti-drug and anti-drinking laws
and continues to use her racing career to help
teach children and teens the dangers of drugs
and alcohol.
Angel then took some time off
of racing to pursue her new career and finish
raising her children. However, that did not
keep her completely away from the race tracks,
as her son had caught the racing disease as
well and had begun a successful go-kart career
himself. And of course, Angel never refused a
ride when the opportunity presented itself.
Ask her if she wants to drive and she is
packed up and on her way out the door before
she knows what track she is suppose to go to.
In 2000 Angel returned to her
racing career and has jumped in stronger than
ever before. After her brief break in the
racing world, she and Dennis discovered a new
division of racecars being built and they just
couldn't resist the temptation to jump in and
check them out. Just a month later she and
Dennis had a Pro Challenge racecar sitting in
their garage being prepared for the 2001 race
season. Angel and her husband Dennis fell in
"love at first site" with this new division of
racecar and immediately began building their
race team. Angel's first season of racing the
car was a learning experience and she focused
mainly on finishing races and seat time,
rather than getting up front and winning in
her rookie year. Her motto at that time was,
"I MAY BE IN THE REAR OF THE PACK, BUT I LOOK
DARN GOOD!" Well, Angel's rookie year
philosophy of not rushing wins and focusing on
avoiding crashes, driving consistent times,
and getting a lot of seat time paid off in the
end, as she finished the season as the 2nd
place Points Champion in her division. Angel
then had the desire and goal to top that in
the 2002 season, and she accomplished that
goal successfully.
Since Angel and Dennis formed
Green Motorsports they have been enjoying
every minute of it. Their combined love of
racing continues to be a fulfilling part of
their life. Dennis fully supports all of
Angel's racing dreams and is her biggest fan,
supporter, crew chief, team-mate, and partner
in every aspect of her life. Angel currently
works a full time job to help support her
racing addiction as a Network Administrator
for the State of Tennessee. She also develops
and maintains websites for not only Green
Motorsports, but many of her fellow drivers as
well to help support her racing addiction. She
also works together with husband Dennis
designing and installing racecar and transport
vehicle graphics.
