Hello my name is Chantal Germek.
I'm 20 years old and I'm from North
Huntingdon, PA. I compete at Motordrome
Speedway in the Pro Truck Division. This is my
first year in the truck division.
I started racing in 2001 in the
Ladies Enduro class winning 2 times that year
and 3 in 2002. In 2002, I was the Ladies
Enduro Champion at Jennerstown Speedway.
In 2003, I drove a Charger and
finished 4th in points at Motordrome and 2nd
in points at Jennerstown missing the
championship by a couple points. I had 6 wins
that season. Also in 2003 I was awarded Rookie
of the year at Jennerstown and McDonald's Most
Popular Driver at Motordrome.
I also received "The Western
Pennsylvania Rookie of the Year" award in
2003. I became the first women in the 36 years
the award has been presented.
Other
winners of the award include Dave Blaney, Dale
Blaney, Kevin Bolland, and Bob Flemlee. These
drivers have made very big accomplishments in
racing.
In 2004 I'm hoping to win a
race in the division and capture rookie of the
year. As for the future, I look to move up
into higher divisions as my experience and
driving skills become more solid.
Special thanks goes out to my
family who are there at the race track every
week. It's not too often that young adults
can't wait till the weekend to spend time with
their family. I'm lucky enough to have my dad
as the owner, my sister's husband as the crew
chief, my mother, sister, and uncle all
involved in my hobby. Racing is a great family
sport.
