Ann Furia 

My name is Ann Furia. I am a 40 yr. old single mother of 3 young children. I come from a racing family and have always loved fast cars,  dreaming to race one day on my own. In my entire life, the opportunity never arose for me to get behind the wheel of a race car, that is until now.

In July of 2000, I scraped up the money to buy a "Bomber". The bomber care is basically a stock car that requires a passenger. The 2000 racing at the Ukiah Speedway did not have a regular racing schedule since there was not a promoter that year but Bob and Nadine Strauss from he Lakeport Speedway were able to put together a month of Racing in August. I tuned up the car, blew out the cob webs and took it down to the track. Needless to say, I was hooked after my first set of hot laps. I was excited to go out and drive in my first race. It was very exciting to have a car behind me drive right over the top of my car after taking a green flag half way through the main event after a caution was brought out. Neither the car nor I did well but we finally ironed out the bugs and went over to Lakeport Speedway and did well.

This year I will be racing again in Ukiah with a different car and looking forward to going out and doing my best to have fun.  I'm going to make my kids proud to say: That's my Mom out there.  "Rookie of the year" is what I'll be working for but still having a great time and putting on a great show for all of the fans.
