Sondi Eden
Hometown: Crawfordsville, Indiana
Education: BBA Degree with honors at Morehead
State
Pets: Dog named 'Racer'
Do not let the smile and humble personality off the
track fool you. Ask any racing expert to name five young
drivers who will make a lasting positive impact on the
sport of racing and the name 'Sondi Eden' will most
likely be on every list. "She has the rare talent to
drive both aggressive and clean" noted one race
announcer, "and the impressive thing is she will only
continue to get better." A gifted athlete, who received
a full basketball scholarship to college, Sondi has
taken her skills to tracks across America where she has
earned a reputation as one of the most talented and
intelligent drivers in racing competition today.
Concerned as much about her character as she is about
winning races, Sondi has gained the respect of fellow
drivers, fans, media and sponsors. "I have been to
several of her races", noted Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Network announcer Howdy Bell, "and I have yet to find
anyone who has anything negative to say about Sondi".
In a sport dominated by males, Sondi has set a number
of milestones for her gender:
1st female to race midgets at legendary Salem
Speedway (Finished 4th)
1st female to win NAMARS Rookie of the Year
1St female to win USAC Championship in 49-year history
of USAC
Still, there are more "first's" to be accomplished
and Sondi has never been the type of person to stop and
reflect on her accomplishments. There are too many races
yet to be run and each day is a new challenge.
Challenges are what Sondi lives for.
