Ashley Camilleri
Ashley began
racing in 1999 at the age of 11 in Quarter
Midgets. Throughout her 4 years of Quarter
Midgets, Ashley gained incredible regional and
national sucess. At the age of 11, she started
racing in the Sr. Honda class, and later on at
the age of 13 moved into the the Lt.160 class.
Ashley has accomplished many wins in Quarter
Midgets, having over 100 wins, and managed to
qualify 3rd fastest in the 2002 Eastern Dirt
Grands in Hagerstown, Maryland- out of 57 cars.
She has also set fast time during her 1st year
of racing while qualifying at Atco Speedway. In
2003, Ashley competed in the New Jersey, Dirt-
State Champion Race at the South Jersey Quarter
Midget Race Club.
After winning her
heat, feature and getting the fastest pit stop
time, she was named The Lt.160 Dirt Champion of
New Jersey. In April of 2002, a new track was
built in Phoenixville, PA.. Ashley was willing
to race there even though not having a clue on
what the track was like, and still went out and
dominated the 160 field. And, years from now-
she will be able to think back on everything,
and remember how special it was for her to
accomplish so many things. With her aggressive,
no-fear driving style, she accomplished a lot,
in just a small period of time.
After her 4 years
of Midgets, she wanted to move up into a bigger
and more competitive type of racing. She decided
to the compete in Micro Sprints, when she turned
14 years old. In April of 2003, she competed in
the 125cc Class at Airport Speedway in New
Castle, DE. Ashley learned alot of valuable
information each week she raced, and this
information made her racing team progress into a
very competitive and confident team. She drives
a HYPER Chassis Micro Sprint, that she has been
named ' 2003 Rookie of the Year ' with. And also
placed 4th in overall point standings for that
year.
For Ashley's
Second season of Micro Sprints,' 2004 Racing
Season', Ashley is currently 16 years old and
has moved up into the 250cc Stock Class in Micro
Sprints, and is really enjoying it. She came
into this class with alot of confidence, and
competitiveness and is ready to win a
championship. She feels in order to win, you
have to be aggressive- with your car, the
racetrack, nd with the competition. And that's
what she's willing to do. Ashley looks forward
to her upcoming seasons and racing careers, and
has high standards for herself.
She has a huge
desire and dedication for racing and winning.
Her dream is to become a professional racecar
driver, and let racing take her as far as it
can. She would like to move up into bigger
Sprint Cars when she is old enough, and maybe
even race with ' The King' and ' The Dude' in
The World Of Outlaws one day. She has shown so
far in her racing career that she is well on her
way to possibly acheiving those dreams.
