LATEST NEWS
After
starting her racing career 5 years ago on the
local karting scene in South Florida, Mishael
Abbott, 20 year old, college sophomore, quickly
climbed the ladder in the kart racing world to
become the first female to win a Superkarts! USA
(SKUSA) - the world's premiere shifter kart
series - feature race.
Mishael is a
graduate of the Lyn St. James Driver Development
program and was the 2000 Kara Hendrick
Scholarship winner. Along the way, participation
in the Skip Barber Formula Dodge and USAC Midget
series have led her to her next challenge.
During the 2001
season, Mishael participated in three test days
with the PRO-ONE Motorsports Formula Mazda team.
In her second test day, she was turning lap
times which would have put her on the podium at
the most recent
SCCA
(Sports Car Club of America) event at the track
(GingerMan Raceway, South Haven, Michigan). In
early October, she scored a top five finish at
the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during an SCCA
Regional Championship event in a PRO-ONE
Motorsports Formula Mazda.
For 2002, she
will be a team driver with PRO-ONE Motorsports
in the STAR MAZDA SERIES. The STAR MAZDA SERIES
North American Championship, will tour famous
tracks in Canada and the United States, and
provide Mishael the platform for her first full
season of professional racing. The STAR MAZDA
SERIES serves as a support race to the IMSA
American LeMans Series and CART Champ Car series
events. And as was the case in 2001, all of the
series events will be televised on the
Speedvision network. Other select races in SCCA
formula cars and sedans along with the Formula
Mazda program will fill out a full year of
racing.
In 2003, Mishael
looks to compete in the new Indy Racing League
support series, with all sights set on her
ultimate goal of participating in and being the
first female to WIN the Indianapolis 500.
