PIRELLI SPONSORS CARTING FOR CHARITY
Andretti Speed Lab Hosts Prelim Event
Before Season Finale at Petit Le Mans
ROSWELL, Georgia, Oct. 13, 2003 – Race fans
from Atlanta will challenge the best of the
American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in a charity go-karting
event at Andretti Speed Lab in Roswell today
from 3 to 9 p.m. ALMS drivers will prep for
Saturday’s season finale at Road Atlanta by
setting the fastest lap times on the Speed Lab’s
indoor circuit.
Fans will have the opportunity to compete for
tickets to Saturday’s race by beating the racers
times. Drivers will be available to sign
autographs and pose for pictures with the fans.
In addition, 790 The Zone will be broadcasting
live from Andretti Speed Lab with Mike Bell’s
motorsports show featuring live
drivers’ interviews from 7 to 9 p.m.
With its North America headquarters based in
nearby Rome, Pirelli Tires is sponsoring the
event for second straight year. The real race
gets underway this coming Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
with the sixth running of the Petit Le Mans
endurance race, a 1,000-mile or 10-hour race,
that will determine the overall Drivers’ and
Manufacturer’s championships. SPEED Channel will
provide seven hours of live coverage of the
event beginning at 11 a.m. (EDT).
Pirelli won the first Petit Le Mans in 1998
with former World Sports Car Champion Wayne
Taylor driving his Doyle Risi Racing’s Ferrari
333 SP to victory. With podiums in all three of
the classes that it participated in at Miami,
Pirelli is looking forward to ending the ALMS
season with a splash. Of champagne, that is! |
