Championship Contender AGP Racing.com/Yamaha
Returns to Action at Washougal in Women’s
Motocross League (WML) Series
Sarah Whitmore currently
ranked second and
Tania Satchwell to return from injury.
Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 14, 2003) ?
After more than two months off, AGP Racing.com/Yamaha’s
Sarah Whitmore and Tania Satchwell prepare for
Round 3 of the AMA-WML Altex Computers Motocross
Championship Series at Washougal MX Park in
Washougal, Wash. on July 26-27. Whitmore
currently holds second in the championship
standings, with four rounds remaining, following
an inspired ride at the last round in May.
Teammate and 2001 WML champion, Satchwell, will
be returning to racing form after an injury at
the last WML race.
During the time off preceding Round 3, AGP
Racing.com riders have been racing local tracks
and qualifying for the AMA/Air Antiques Loretta
Lynn’s
Amateur National Championships in August. They
have their Pro-Action tuned Yamaha YZ125 race
bikes ready to run out front at Washougal. At
the first two rounds, Whitmore rode to fifth and
second overall, while Satchwell earned second
overall at the first round and did not complete
Round 2 after crashing in the first moto and
breaking her collarbone. Even with one DNF,
Satchwell sits 11th in the WML championship
standings.
“The Hangtown race was one of my best ever,”
said AGP Racing.com’s Whitmore, who wears WML
number four. “It was awesome to be one of the
fastest women motocrossers in the world on that
day. We showed that we could run up front on the
YZ125 and be a contender for the WML title.
There are a lot of good female riders out there,
including Tania (Satchwell). Now we have to win
the next round at Washougal and we’ll go from
there.”
Washougal will precede the halfway point of
the WML series. All rounds are run in
conjunction with the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S.
Motocross Championships. At Washougal, WML moto
one will be held on Saturday, July 26, while
moto two will be held the Sunday, July 27 before
AMA 125cc National moto one.
AGP Racing.com rider Satchwell, wearing WML
number 105 this year, spoke on her return to
racing. “I was really disappointed when I
crashed and broke my collarbone at Hangtown. It
was lucky for us that we had over two months
before the next round. My collarbone should be
100 percent by Washougal. I am excited to get
back to WML racing and hope to run up front with
my teammate, Sarah (Whitmore).”
Fans can meet AGP Racing.com riders,
Satchwell and Whitmore, when they sign
autographs at a session with other women
professional riders on Washougal’s vendor row
during the race weekend. Times will be announced
at the track by the WML.
