SUE ROBINSON NAMED HEAD OF PERFORMANCE RALLY
TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 2, 2003) – The Sports Car
Club of America, Inc. announced today that Sue
Robinson has been named Manager of Performance
Rally and will assume many of the primary
responsibilities formally held by the Director
position.
Prior to joining the SCCA staff in November
2002, Robinson served as Director of the
California Rally Series from 1999 to 2002.
Overall, she has been involved in various roles
in rally (competitor, organizer, stage worker
and instructor) since her first SCCA event in
1982 at the Reno International Rally.
“Sue Robinson is what the Performance Rally
Program needs as it moves into the future,” said
Steve Johnson, SCCA President and CEO. “Sue
brings experience, a great attitude, overall
leadership and the understanding of what our
members need from our rally program.”
Robinson said that the Performance Rally
community showed great resolve as the season
unfolded in 2003.
“This year was a year of huge challenges,”
said Robinson. “The rally organizers and
competitors have risen to these challenges far
beyond what was asked of them. I am excited to
head the program as we implement new standards
of excellence in event operation and safety.”
Robinson also mentioned some of the ways she
would like to see her new program move forward.
“I believe we need to build a strong base in
our ClubRally program to see the entire
Performance Rally program flourish,” said
Robinson. “If we make all of our events –
RallyCross, ClubRally and ProRally – the most
organized, the best executed and at the same
time present fair and safe driving challenges,
everybody wins; the organizers, the competitors
and the SCCA.”
Robinson takes on many of the
responsibilities formally held by Kurt Spitzner,
who announced his resignation soon after the
completion of the 2003 SCCA ProRally
Championship.
