Career at Martinsville Speedway:
Deborah will be making her third career start
at the Martinsville Speedway in the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series. Her first start at the
short track proved to be very successful where
she finished in the 15th place position in the
200 lap race. Earlier this spring, Deborah
competed again at the Speedway but came away
with a disappointing 28th place finish at the
half mile track.
Deborah On Martinsville:
“Staying out of trouble and keeping track
position is vital at Martinsville. That track is
so tight and the racing so close that you have
to be on your game 200% the whole race. It is a
difficult track to master and we didn’t have a
good run there in the spring but we tested a few
weeks ago and were extremely pleased. Shawn
Parker, my crew chief, and all the guys on the
BHR2 team have been working hard on this truck
to get ready to go. I had an awesome run last
year in Martinsville where I finished 15th – I’m
hoping to improve on that this weekend.”
Deborah On The Three Week Break in Action:
“It is always nice to have a week or so
in-between the events. I went to my Alma Mater
Northwood University outside of Detroit to
participate in an open panel discussion and kick
off the opening ceremony for the annual
Northwood University International Auto Show. I
am ready to get back in that truck though. We’ve
have had a pretty good season and have been able
to improve on so much. I’m ready to go back out
there this weekend and get back the momentum
we’ve been building this season and give it all
we have for these last five races.”
Deborah Discusses Erin Crocker and
Evernham Motorsports arrival in the Craftsman
Truck Series for 2006:
“I am really excited that Erin (Crocker) will be
joining the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in
2006. Kelly Sutton and I have been the only two
female racecar drivers competing full time in a
major NASCAR Touring Series and it is so great
to see other women coming into the sport. NASCAR
and especially the Craftsman Truck Series
drivers have gone out of their way to welcome us
and I am sure they will do the same for Erin.
Having Ray Evernham move into the Craftsman
Truck Series will bring even more recognition to
its already rapidly expanding growth. We are
seeing more and more Cup drivers are coming in
and competing in the Series. It has made the
trucks exciting to watch and extremely
competitive to race in. I know that I’ve stepped
up my driving and it has really improved by
competing against and working with the Cup
drivers.”
Notes:
● Deborah will be making her 34th career
start in the Craftsman Truck Series this week at
the Martinsville Speedway.
● Deborah will be racing the truck nicknamed
“Trix” this weekend. This will be the sixth race
of the season for this truck and Deborah last
raced it in Richmond.
