MUNTER STARTS 4TH, FINISHES 7TH IN FIRST CONVENIENCE BANK 100 AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Fort Worth, TX (June 12, 2004) Leilani Münter made her debut in the ROMCO Super Late Model Series in the First Convenience Bank 100 at Texas Motor Speedway's 1.5 mile oval with an impressive run. In her very first super late model race, and her first race at Texas Motor Speedway, Münter posted the 6th quickest lap of 26 race cars in practice on June 11. She qualified 5th and started 4th after the No. 96 of Greg Davidson went to the back of the field after qualifying. Munter brought the No. 27 FHM Chevrolet home with a 7th place finish on the lead lap and closing.

"We had a top five car today. I made a rookie mistake and had a bad restart and lost a lot of track position but I gained back most of it. Looking back, it was probably good for me because I learned a lot about how to pass in the draft," said Münter.

"I pushed the 49 car down the frontstretch and helped him pass some cars and he came over and thanked me. I know I made some friends out there today. I earned their respect and that is so important when you are out there running side by side. Hopefully I will get to come back and race with them again soon. Special thanks to Doug Hooks, my crew chief David Umsheid and the entire Hooks Motorsports race team for giving me a great car and special thanks to my sponsor FHM for getting me back on the track."

Münter lost several positions during the third restart but quickly began making her way back to the front of the field. After the last restart the 19 car of Kent Baltzell made contact with Munter's No. 27 FHM Chevrolet's left rear coming out of turn two. Munter got sideways but only lost one position. She was closing quickly on several cars in front of her during the final laps, but ran out of time.

"It was a very impressive run for a rookie driver running against veterans. She proved to a lot of people she can handle a race car and run up front," said car owner Doug Hooks, "She's welcome to drive for me anytime."

Tune in to SPEED CHANNEL on Wednesday June 16 at 8 pm EST for Leilani's episode of "I Wanna Date a Race Car Driver"
