CINDI LUX CLINCHES SCCA NORPAC DRIVER
CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A DOMINATING YEAR
PORTLAND, Ore. – Aug. 19, 2003 – Cindi
Lux can add another championship to her
impressive collection. During her first year
driving a Kumho Tire/Redline Oil/Kodiak Racing
Wheel Z06 Corvette sponsored by Suburban
Chevrolet in SCCA T1 class for Team NayKid
Racing, Lux clinched in a controlling fashion
the SCCA NORPAC divisional championship for the
2003 race season. During her season of 11 race
starts, Lux had three first place finishes, six
seconds, one track record, one pole position as
well as a Hard Charger award for her outstanding
performance in Phoenix.
Lux has a strong history of winning,
including being the inaugural Champion of the
1999 Women’s Global GT Series in the American Le
Mans Series; a top five finish at Petit Le Mans
driving a Porsche GT3 for G&W Motorsports; four
pole positions, six wins and one track record in
a BMW in during the 2002 season; and second
place in the GTS class at the 2002 Portland
Champ Car support race.
“I cannot remember a racing season that I
have really enjoyed more. The T1 cars are fast;
the sponsors are first class, my teammates,
Scotty and Rick, rock and the crew preps the
cars extremely well. From a driver’s stand
point, I am an enormously fortunate person,”
said Lux of her 2003 winning season.
She is quick to give credit to not only her
teammates for pushing her so hard but also her
sponsors. “ My sponsors are NOT the typical
sponsors in the world of Motorsports,” says Lux.
“They are more…. they truly stepped up to the
plate and provided awesome assistance for us to
go out on track and kick some serious butt.” She
feels the support she has received from Kumho
Tires has been the backbone to her 2003
championship season.
Lux’s success is also due in part to the
support provided by Suburban Chevrolet. “We
really couldn’t have done it without them,” Lux
said. “Suburban has really worked hard for us
this season and it shows. I’m so happy that I
have won this championship for them as well.”
“In many ways I don't want the season to end.
But believe it or not, the 2004 testing is right
around the corner!! Which is good since I am
sure my competitors will only going faster next
year,” Lux said with a big smile.
Lux started racing in 1988 and since then has
captured nine road racing championships with
more than 63 victories, 33 second place
finishes, 25 third place finishes and 38 pole
positions. She is a two-time winner of the
Nelson Ledges 24-Hour Endurance Race and
recipient of the Northwest Pat Piggot Memorial
Award in for the most outstanding driver. In
addition, she won the SCCA Pro-Driver
Driver-of-the-Year Award in 1999.
During her time off the racetrack, Lux
teaches for a variety of manufactures for new
model launches to the press and dealers and is
an instructor for the BMW Performance Center in
the U.S. and South America, Porsche Driving
Experience in Birmingham Alabama and for Toyota
for the Pro/Celebrity race at the Long Beach
Grand Prix.
Lux and her 2 other Team NayKid Racing
teammates will travel to Lexington, Ohio for the
SCCA season finale, the Valvoline Runoffs slated
for Sept. 15-21. The team will field its three
Corvette Z06 racing machines.
