DICARLO HARD CHARGING TO THE FRONT
MOORESVILLE, NC (May 1, 2007)—Despite missing
the first event of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series
season, Great Clips driver is hard charging her
way to the front of the point standings. In one
week, DiCarlo went from 27th in the point
standings to 17th; marking the first time she
has sat in the top 20 in points.
Two weeks ago, DiCarlo left Salem Speedway in
27th position after being knocked out of the
race by another competitor and finishing 34th.
As she entered Kansas Speedway last weekend, her
goals were the same as they had been all
season—to have good a qualifying effort and
finish.
She did just that. DiCarlo qualified a
season-best 24th and finished in 23rd position.
“I’m excited that we’re moving up in the
points,” said DiCarlo. “With this being my first
year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, my goal is to
make races on time without taking provisionals
and to also have good finishes. We finished 23rd
at Kansas Speedway last weekend, and that was
good enough to push us up 10 positions in the
standings. If we can keep making progress each
week, I know it’s realistic to think we can get
into the top 15 or even better.”
DiCarlo is competing for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX
Series Rookie of the Year.
“I’m thrilled to see our team jump that many
positions in the point standings,” said team
owner Doug Stringer. “This is a first-year team,
and we’re out there competing against some
Cup-affiliated teams, so I couldn’t be more
excited with our progress so far this season.
Kansas is a tough track, and Gabi handled
herself like a seasoned veteran out there. She’s
still learning each week, and you have to
remember that she’s a rookie, but to see these
finishes this early in the season tells me that
we’re doing the right things with the right
driver behind the wheel.”
