DiCarlo Scores Two National Wins

Phoenix, Ariz. – January 24, 2005 – Star Mazda racer Gabi DiCarlo of Phoenix, Ariz., finished first Sunday and Monday in both the qualifying and final race at the Arizona Double National Phoenix International Raceway (SCCA).

“We had a great two days of racing. My crew really worked hard for me and it paid off in the end,” said Gabi.

In Sunday’s qualifying session Gabi was fastest by a second and a half. Gabi lost two positions on the start in Sunday’s race putting her in third place until lap three of the 30 lap race. Pushing past both cars in lap three she kept over a 20 second lead to win.

Monday went similar to Sunday for Gabi. She qualified first by one second, starting off the race in first place. In the final race Gabi slipped a few positions coming out of turn one in third place, but by lap four Gabi was in the lead again – a lead she maintained for the remaining 26 laps.

Gabi was very excited about her consecutive wins in Phoenix. “I don’t want to say that we had a perfect weekend but taking the pole and the win both days is pretty hard to beat. I would like to thank my crew, Moses Smith Racing, Great Clips and everyone else who makes this possible,” added Gabi.

Gabi’s next race will be at California Speedway for the first race of the Star Mazda Red Line Oil Championship.
