Anji Bemben - on her way...
If the first full year of a racing career can
be considered the starting line then Anji Bemben
is sitting in the pole position, ready for
challengers. The North Vancouver, British
Columbia-based driver was the series winner in
the Production 3 class (P3) and second overall
in the Westcoast Sportscar Championship Series
held from April through October of this year at
the picturesque Mission Raceway Park in Mission,
B.C.
"I'm so happy how the first season went,²
said Bemben, who drives a West Coast
Hotrods-built 1987 Mazda RX7, and is sponsored
by TONI&GUY, Diamonds Direct and Richmond
Autobody of North Vancouver. "It was such a
great experience and I couldn't ask for a better
result, well, except winning the overall, but
who knows maybe I'll get that next year." The
only professional car roadracing series in
Western Canada, the Westcoast Sportscar
Championship Series consists of seven one-hour
enduro races with mandatory one minute pit stops
and optional driver changes. Bemben, who
co-drives with her husband Ryan Ennis, was the
only woman in a field of 46 drivers in the
Sportscar Club of British Columbia
(www.SCCBC.net)
sponsored series.
Bemben also raced in the SCCBC sponsored
invitational only, non-points event earlier this
summer at the Molson Indy Vancouver. |
