Racing rookie driver Sarah Fisher drove
an exciting race at the Vegas Indy 300 at Las
Vegas Motor Speedway. Fisher started the race
in 12th place, and raced all the way to second
place before her day ended early with an
accident on Lap 127. Team strategy played a
big part in the race, with the first scheduled
pit stop taking place on Lap 35, under a
yellow on the racetrack. The second scheduled
pit stop also took place under yellow
conditions on Lap 90, playing into the hands
of engineer and team manager Rob Edwards and
race strategist Walker. After the second pit
stop, Fisher went back on track in fourth
position and held it until moving up to second
place on Lap 125. Two laps later, on Lap 127,
Fisher lost control of the car coming out of
Turn 3. "I don't really know what
happened," said Fisher." All of a
sudden the car felt really loose and I don't
know if the car behind me got too close or if
something broke in the car or what. We'll have
to look at the car after the race to find out." But I do know that I had an awesome
time out there." The rookie driver ended
up in 17th place at the end of the race. As
for comments made by Eliseo Salazar who was
involved in the accident - racerchicks agrees
with the announcers - and goes further - shame
on you Eliseo, you testosteroned critic....
were you not a rookie once yourself?
Not only is Sarah Fisher an outstanding
driver she is intelligent, articulate and
certainly a class act.
