If you're like me you always love to sit
and listen to people that know racing.
The story tellers way of grasping out
attention with detailed adventures make you
yearn for more. Finding a book that
brings you the same comfort of being up close
and personal with such insiders of the sport
is a rarity - that is until Golenbock's book:
NASCAR Confidential
Sit back and listen to Grandpa tall you
about the first days of NASCAR and then shift
into modern times and get personal with
today's racing heroes. Golenbock makes
this book not enjoyable - it is not a venue
for complaints or praise but rather
beautifully memoirs of those that make NASCAR
what it is today.
It's an easy read - a grouping of short
stories that all intertwine. But until
other books of the sort it flows beautifully
and makes it tough to put down
Golenbock and his knack of extracting the
best from the men and women of NASCAR, putting
it on paper and letting us become an insider
to it, is well worth buying this book.
Make sure to read Susan Bonnett's work -
her insight, her emotion - she brings her work
to life as she writes about her husband Neil.
What great strength she has!
I learned and I listened - thank you Peter
for the welcome addition to any racerchick's
library. This book is dedicated
to Betty Carlin, of the International
Motorsports Hall of Fame. We salute her
here at racerchicks.com for what she has
accomplished. It may not have been on
the track but is still worthy of her "Woman of
the Year" in Stock Car Racing that she
was awarded. |
