The Women of American LeMans - Behind the Scenes:
As a guest of the recent American LeMans Series race at
Mosport, Ontario,
racerchicks.com was astounded at the behind the scenes women of the sport
and series. Ask anybody and they'll tell you the following women are just a
few of many - but nevertheless they are the wizards of making the race a
successful event.
Red badge of courage goes out to Gill Campbell, Director of pre-event
promotions for ALMS. It was just 10 weeks ago that she was involved in a
horrific car accident and broke her pelvis, bruised her inside and made her
wish we humans came with a warrantee and money-back guarantee!! Starship
trooper Gill was seen hobbling at MACH 1 around the media center - you would
NOT believe it was her first time at Mosport, doing what she does best....
no high tech crutches can slow her down. Thanks for the energy
Gill!!
Lynda Fellows, wife and mother - a tough job to begin with but when you
happen to be wife of Ron Fellows, driver of the Corvette C5-R.......added
responsibility includes public relations, marketing and being his number #1
fan. We've had the pleasure of meeting Lynda a few times -- at a charity
event, to the race track where she has always been supportive of her
husbands racing and it shows by her constant smile and genuine personality.
This racerchick found out first hand how well respected and cherished she is
as team member. Racing is certainly a nomadic lifestyle - Lynda has made
it a family affair. Kudo's to the Fellows family for showing that racing
can and is a place for good people.
"Lynda Havens breaks land speed record" is what the headlines should read -
for the whole weekend the smile never waned from her face but the work never
stopped. As associate press officer for ALMS, she devoted 110% energy to
making the race run smoothly for everyone involved.
The comment was - if you want answers - go to
Lynda! Thank you for the inspiration!
