Vanishing
Point

This is a movie some of us
who shall remain nameless could see becoming
reality on some of our more boisterous days.
Barry Newman plays the lead character named
Kowalski. Kowalski is considered the most
lead-footed car delivery guy in the U.S.A.,
and his assignment is to deliver a
Super-Charged 1970 Dodge Challenger from
Denver to San Francisco within 15 hours. Just
to add some incentive he makes some side bets
that he can do it.
As luck would have it, the
police try to give him a speeding
ticket....Kowalski puts pedal to the metal and
see you later. As a former owner of a 1970 440
Cuda ( Plymouth's version of the Challenger )
I really identified with Kowalski.
This film didn't win any
awards, but it is considered a cult classic. A
fun, fast-paced film.
If you like this film, you

Gumball Rally, 1976
Cannonball Run, 1981
Both films are take-offs on
a real event that used to take place: The
famous Car and Driver sponsored " Cannonball
Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Trophy Dash. " The
race would start at the Red Ball Garage in
Manhattan around the corner from the old C + D
editorial offices at 1 Park Avenue and finish
at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles.
