Could it be true? Porsche wins Handling Day
Midengine and just perfect
handling was better than anything else when
the new online magazine sportscartesting.com
did its first Handling Day.
The winner in the comparison
test on speed, braking, handling and fun was
Porsche Boxster S in front of e.g. two
Ferrari’s, Porsche 911 Turbo, Lotus Elise,
Opel Speedster and Mazda MX-5.
Responsible for the test
results, Flemming Haslund, explains:
”Quite a few were surprised,
that a sports car with ”only” 250 HP could win
the test. But Boxster wins thanks to its
perfect balance, that makes it easy to drive.
Boxster S wasn’t as fast into all measure
points at the test track as Ferrari 360 Modena,
but it is better than the Ferrari, because it
is easier to handle. Boxster S wasn’t funnier
to drive than Opel Speedster – but it beats
the lightweight Opel, thanks to a lot more
beefy
engine. Boxster S wasn’t as fast as the
Porsche 911 turbo at the end of the straight –
but it beats is own big brother thanks to the
more precise handling. And this is how it
beats all the competitors – car-by-car”
explains Mr. Haslund.
