Viper Club of America and the Car Control School Work Together to Raise Funds for the Children's Wish Foundation

Viper DayHow can a racerchick say no to spending a gorgeous Sunday afternoon watching Vipers work their magic. From first year production to the latest ACR's, more American V-10s were present to test and push the limits of their drivers ability. Techniques such as collision avoidance, threshold braking, emergency lane change, steering and skid pad control were taught during this one day event put on by The Viper Club of America and Car Control School. Unlike the feeling of longing as you press your face up to the candy stores window - this time if you wanted to feel the extremes of this modern day muscle car - all you had to do is ask and offer a donation to the Children's Wish foundation.

Viper EngineAs for the Viper owners who gave up their time, tires and gas! - we had a chance to ask them why they felt the car control school was a worthwhile venture. Karen, who "co-shares" the family Viper with her husband found the course improving her confidence in controlling the car. " Anyone that has driven a Viper knows the power under the hood -- transferring that power onto the roadway makes for a fun ride. Here I've learned how to manage and control the car better - so I can be a safer driver."

The Car Control School, run by professional drivers, was the perfect venue for showing off the throaty roar of the V-10 s. "The vast majority of today's drivers are only given what is equivalent to a grade 8 education when it comes to driver education, without even realizing there is so much more to learn. We provide motorists with a college education in driving." says Chief Instructor Ian Law. "Nobody knows car control better than racecar drivers and control is what it's all about".

Viper DayWatching the Vipers tear down the slalom course made me realize how much I miss sheer torque - the " throw you back into your seat as you slam the gas pedal down" feeling that is this muscle car's trademark. As the day came to an end, Viper owners, some Corvette club members, and yours truly, the Ferrari-nut stood there talking the car talk and leaving rivalries aside - now if only the Middle East could take note.
